Iran ceasefire now ‘on life support’: Trump
US President Donald Trump has said that the ceasefire between the United States and Iran is now ‘on life support’ or ‘in a very critical state’. Trump told reporters in the Oval Office of the White House on Monday (May 11). He believes that the main reason for this is that the two sides have not yet agreed on the terms for starting negotiations to end the war.
Trump said, ‘The ceasefire is now in a state like a doctor who comes in and says, ‘Sir, your loved one has a 1 percent chance of survival.’ Calling Iran’s counter-proposal ‘stupid’, he said, ‘It’s a stupid proposal and nobody would accept it – even if Obama or Biden would have accepted it. What they took away was much more terrible.’
Meanwhile, regarding Iran’s military capabilities, Trump claimed that Iran’s naval power has been significantly weakened in this war. He said, ‘They had 159 ships, now they don’t have one.’ ‘Just a few small speedboats. “We destroyed eight of them in one day.”
