Fatullah explosion kills homeowner

Narayanganj, Fatullah fire: Kalam, the homeowner among the five people who were burnt, has died. He died while undergoing treatment at the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute around 11 am today (May 11). Four members of his family are still undergoing treatment in the incident. Doctors said that their condition is also critical.
Kalam (35) has suffered 95 percent burns on his body. His wife Saima (32), son Munna (7) and two daughters Katha (7) and Munni (10) are undergoing treatment at the same hospital. Resident surgeon of the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, Shaon Bin Rahman, confirmed that Saima has suffered 60 percent burns, Munna 30 percent, Katha 52 percent and Munni 35 percent burns.
The couple along with their three children were burnt in an explosion at a house in Fatullah’s Giridhara area yesterday morning. Later, the five were taken to the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in Dhaka. Assistant Professor Shaon Bin Rahman of the institute said they were brought to the hospital in a ‘critical’ condition. Kalam, a vegetable seller by profession, lived in the house with his wife and children.
Meanwhile, four members of the same family were burnt in an explosion at a house in Fatullah this morning. They have also been admitted to the hospital. The burnt victims are Abdul Kader (50) and his three sons Mehedi (17), Shakib (16) and his twin brother Rakib (16). Abdul Kader is an auto-rickshaw driver. His son Mehedi is a halim seller, Shakib works in a factory and Rakib sells chatpati. Their village is located in Matlab upazila of Chandpur.
