Beekeeper attacked by tiger while collecting honey in Sundarbans

A beekeeper named Bablu Gazi (48) was seriously injured in a tiger attack while collecting honey in Sundarbans. Today, Monday (May 11), at around 7 am, other beekeepers rescued him from Sundarbans. Earlier, yesterday, Sunday, at around 8 am, he was attacked by a tiger in the Pairatuni canal in Kachikata area of ​​Satkhira range of Sundarbans. Bablu Gazi is the son of Malek Gazi of Dumuria village of Gabura union of Shyamnagar upazila.
Local sources and returning beekeepers have learned that yesterday at around 8 am, a group of beekeepers led by Yusuf Gazi were collecting honey in the Pairatuni canal area of ​​Sundarbans. Suddenly, a Royal Bengal tiger came out from behind the bushes and jumped on Bablu Gazi. When other hunters with him came forward with shouts and sticks, the tiger moved away. Later, they rescued Bablu Gazi in a seriously injured condition and headed towards the area. When he reached Nildumur Ghat in Shyamnagar this morning, he was given first aid. Later, he was taken to Satkhira. Bablu Gazi’s father Malek Gazi said, “We were collecting honey together. Suddenly, the tiger came and attacked my son. By the grace of God, he is still alive.” Irfan Hossain, assistant station officer of Burigowalini police station of the Forest Department, said, “We have just come to know about the matter. Investigation is underway.”
