At least 12 killed in Pakistan car bomb attack
At least 12 policemen were killed in a car bomb attack on a police post in northwest Pakistan, police and security sources said. The attack took place on Saturday night (May 9) in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, bordering Afghanistan, according to Al Jazeera.
Police officer Zahid Khan said a suicide bomber and several armed men detonated a car packed with explosives near a security post. Shortly after, multiple explosions were heard and the force of the explosion caused the security post to collapse.
Police also said 12 bodies had been recovered from the rubble. In addition, 3 people were rescued alive. They also feared that the death toll could rise. Meanwhile, an alliance of armed groups known as Ittehad-ul-Mujahideen Pakistan claimed responsibility for the attack.
