Female pedestrian killed in road accident
A female pedestrian named Yasmin (36) was killed in a road accident in Gazaria, Munshiganj. The accident occurred at around 9 pm on Friday (May 8) at the Vitikandi bus stand area on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway. The deceased Yasmin was a resident of Muradpur area of Kadamtali police station in the capital Dhaka.
Witnesses said that she was seriously injured when she was hit by an unknown private vehicle while crossing the road. Later, locals rescued her and took her to Gazaria Upazila Health Complex, where she died during treatment. According to family sources, Yasmin had come to visit her daughter’s in-laws in Alipura Gunpur area of Bhabarchar Union of Gazaria Upazila. She met with an accident while crossing the road from there on her way back to Dhaka.
Doctors at the emergency department of the Upazila Health Complex said that Yasmin suffered a serious head injury. She died due to excessive bleeding. Bhabarchar Highway Police Station In-charge Md. Shah Kamal Akhand said the body of the deceased has been taken into police custody. Necessary legal action is being taken in the incident.
