Husband arrested for beating wife to death over family dispute

A housewife named Arzina Khatun (26) has been accused of beating her to death over a family dispute in Tentulia Upazila of Panchagarh. In this incident, the deceased’s father Jalal Uddin filed a murder case with Tentulia Model Police Station and the police arrested her husband Monir Hossain (24).
Today, Monday (May 4) afternoon, Tentulia Model Police Station completed the legal process and sent Monir to the court. Earlier, Monir Hossain was arrested from his own house on Sunday (May 3) night. It is learned that the arrested Monir Hossain is the son of Shahjalal of Shanubalabari village in Shalbahan Union. According to police and complaint sources, Arzina, the younger daughter of farmer Jalal Uddin of Ranchandi village in Tentulia, was married to Monir Hossain, the son of Shahjalal of Shanubalabari village in Shalbahan Union, about three years ago.
There was a family dispute between them since their marriage. Monir Hossain beat up Arzina at her house yesterday evening due to a family dispute. After the incident, Arzina fell seriously ill and was taken to Panchagarh Modern Sadar Hospital on the advice of a local village doctor and later to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. She died in Thakurgaon area around 11 pm. Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tentulia Model Police Station Laisur Rahman told Banglanews that the deceased’s father Jalal Uddin had filed a case as the plaintiff at night. Later, the accused was arrested from his house in a raid that night and sent to the Panchagarh court on Monday afternoon after completing the legal process. Meanwhile, the body has been sent to the Panchagarh Modern Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
