Depositors lock five banks in Chittagong for the second day
Depositors have locked five banks in Chittagong’s Agrabad area for the second day, demanding deposit refunds and full dividends. They have locked Union Bank, Exim Bank, First Security Islami Bank, Global Bank and Social Islami Bank one by one since Monday (May 4) morning.
Earlier, the protesters gathered in the Agrabad area since morning. Later, they went to Union Bank with a procession and locked the bank by expelling the officials. Then they protested by taking up residence at First Security Bank. They stayed there and demanded the bank authorities to return their deposits. The depositors have warned that if their demands are not met, they will close all branches in Chittagong.
Meanwhile, the normal transaction activities of the banks have been disrupted due to this protest. Earlier yesterday, they had held this program in Khatunganj.
