Prime Minister in Sylhet
Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has arrived in Sylhet. The plane carrying him (BS-531) landed at Sylhet MAG Osmani International Airport at 9:58 am today (May 2). Several government ministers, state ministers and senior officials welcomed him at the airport.
From there, he went directly to the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) amidst tight security. After visiting the shrine, he will lay the foundation stone of the ‘Flood prevention and infrastructure construction and beautification of both banks of Surma River’ project at a cost of Tk 4,635 crore on the banks of Surma River. Later, he will join a public meeting organized by Sylhet City Corporation.
He will also inaugurate the Basia Canal excavation program at a cost of Tk 12 crore. In the afternoon, he will inaugurate a new branch at Sylhet District Stadium. Later, he will meet leaders and workers at the District Shilpakala Academy in a view-sharing meeting. Meanwhile, heavy rains have started in Sylhet since Friday night (May 1). Heavy rains continued on Saturday morning as well.
