Stolen goods recovered from super specialized hospital, 3 arrested

Shahbagh police have recovered stolen goods and arrested three people in connection with the theft of valuable construction materials (scrap) from Bangladesh Medical University Super Specialized Hospital located in Shahbagh in the capital. Three people named Al Mamun Sarkar (33), Md. Mamunur Rashid (40) and Md. Masum Billah (35) have been arrested in this incident. Assistant Police Commissioner of Media and Public Relations Department of DMP NM Nasiruddin confirmed this information on Thursday (April 23) afternoon.
He said that on Tuesday (April 21) at around 6 am, a group used a mini truck to steal valuable construction materials (scrap) from the engineering wing of the under-construction project building of Basement-2 of the Bangladesh Medical University Attached Super Specialized Hospital.
A theft case has been filed with Shahbagh Police Station in this incident. He further said that after the case, with the help of CCTV footage analysis, intelligence information and technology, Al Mamun Sarkar and Md. Mamunur Rashid were arrested from the hospital area on Wednesday (April 22) at around 7 pm.
The same day, at around 11:30 pm, the police arrested Md. Masum Billah from Badda police station area. At that time, 4 mini trucks loaded with construction material scraps were recovered from them, the estimated value of which is about 1 million taka. During initial interrogation, the arrested said that they are active members of an organized gang of thieves and have stolen unused construction material scraps from the hospital. The process of taking legal action against the arrested is ongoing.
