Two children drown in pond in Nandail

Two children tragically died after drowning in a pond in Nandail, Mymensingh. The accident occurred on Tuesday (April 21) afternoon in Deul Dangra village of Jahangirpur union of the upazila. The deceased children are Saifa Akhter, two and a half years old daughter of Sumon Mia of Deul Dangra village, and Suraiya Akhter, three years old daughter of Tuhin Mia.
According to local and family sources, the two children were playing on the banks of a pond near their house around 5 pm. At one point in the game, they fell into the pond water unnoticed by their family and drowned. After not seeing them for a long time, the family members started searching. At one point, the bodies of the two children were recovered floating in the pond water.
Later, with the help of locals, they were quickly rescued and taken to Nandail Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared both the children dead. At the same time, the tragic death of the two children has cast a shadow of grief over the entire area. The sky and air of Deul Dangra village have become heavy with the cries of relatives.
