10 injured in clash between two villages over Maijbhandari Mahfil
A clash took place between two villages over Maijbhandari Mahfil in Lalmai upazila of Comilla. At least 10 people from both sides were injured in the incident. The clash took place at the junction of three roads in Singharia village of Perul Dakshin Union of the upazila on Monday night. Tension prevails in the area. Additional police have been deployed in the area to avoid clashes.
Police and locals said that a clash took place between the youths of Singharia and Jafarpur villages over a Maijbhandari Mahfil held in Jafarpur village of Lalmai upazila recently. A meeting was organized at Singharia Club last night to resolve the matter. At one stage of the meeting, an argument started between the two sides, which turned into a clash. At that time, the youths of the two villages got involved in the clash. At least 10 people from both sides were injured in the clash. The injured were given first aid locally.
Meanwhile, a youth named Suman Mia was seriously injured in the clash. He was initially taken to Laksam Upazila Health Complex, but was shifted to Comilla Medical College Hospital when his condition deteriorated. In this regard, Lalmai Police Station SI Abu Taher said that recently there was a clash between the youths of two villages over the Maizbhandari Mahfil. After a meeting to resolve the issue, they clashed again. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Additional police have been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward situation.
