Bikers spend night on way to pump in hope of fuel
Hundreds of motorcyclists have been waiting all night at the Hili Filling Station in Alihat area of Hakimpur upazila of Dinajpur in the hope of fuel. Due to limited supply, many bikers have been seen spending the night on the side of the road to cope with the overflowing crowd at the pump area.
On Monday (April 6) morning, a long line of more than a thousand motorcycles was seen at the pump area. Many have been standing in line since Sunday evening. Some have spent the night on the road to guard their motorcycles. According to pump sources, each motorcycle is being given a maximum of Tk 300 in fuel. Due to limited supply, drivers have to queue up in advance to get fuel. As a result, the suffering of bikers coming from far and wide is increasing.
Biker Sabuj Mia said, ‘I have been standing in line since yesterday (Sunday) evening. I have to spend the night here. If we do not get fuel, we will not be able to go to work, so we are forced to wait.’ Biker Mizanur Rahman said, ‘After waiting for so long, it is very difficult to get fuel for only Tk 300. It would have been better if we were given at least 1000 taka of fuel.’ Rabbi, Raju and Sohel and a few other bikers said, ‘We have come from far and wide and are not getting enough fuel even after standing in line for so long. This is wasting both our time and effort.’ According to locals, this suffering may increase further until the fuel supply is normalized. The victims have demanded immediate action from the concerned authorities.
