Spain has permanently withdrawn its ambassador from Israel over the war with Iran. The post of ambassador to Israel was abolished in the Spanish official gazette published on Tuesday (March 10). The country’s foreign ministry said a charge d’affaires would temporarily run the Spanish embassy in Tel Aviv. Reuters news agency reported.
Spain has been vocal against Israel since the start of the massacre in Gaza. Diplomatic relations between Madrid and Tel Aviv have deteriorated. Last year, Spain decided to ban arms exports to Israel and bar entry to Spain of those involved in war crimes in Gaza, as well as to ban imports of goods from illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank and Gaza.
