Jamaat has rejected the verbal proposal made by the ruling party BNP to elect a deputy speaker from the opposition party Jamaat in the 13th National Parliament. The party will decide on the election of the deputy speaker after the discussion on the July charter in the parliament.
Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar made this statement at a press conference after the meeting of the opposition parliamentary committee at the National Parliament today (March 11). He said at the time that they do not want such a deputy speaker.
While talking to reporters on March 2, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said, “We want to start implementing the political agreement that we have reached on the basis of consensus and respect for the July national charter as a document of political agreement.” Our party has proposed to the main opposition party verbally and personally that they can elect it on the day of the deputy speaker election.
However, the opposition camp demanded the implementation of the reform proposal as per the July charter and referendum, and a written proposal was also brought in this regard.
