BNP parliamentary party meeting underway
The parliamentary party meeting of the ruling party BNP in the 13th National Parliament is underway. The meeting is being held the day before the first session of this parliament begins under the chairmanship of Parliament Leader and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. The meeting began at 11 am today, Wednesday (March 11) in the government party meeting room of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. Discussions will be held in the parliament session starting tomorrow, Thursday.
The parliament leader will also discuss the appointment of the president, speaker and deputy speaker of the first session with the parliament members. A decision may be taken in this regard.
Due to the majority, usually the candidate nominated by the ruling party is elected as the speaker and deputy speaker. However, the opposition party BNP has proposed to give the post of deputy speaker to Jamaat-e-Islami. It is not yet certain whether Jamaat-e-Islami will accept this post. A decision in this regard may be taken in today’s opposition party meeting.
