Aren’t those who are talking about canceling the referendum also talking about canceling the national election? Barrister Shishir Monir, a member of the Executive Council of Jamaat-e-Islami, has asked this question. He said, if the entire issue has to be canceled, then why not the national election? Why just the referendum? The 135 ordinances issued in between should also be canceled. He said this at a press conference at the Jamaat-e-Islami central office in Moghbazar on Monday (March 2) night.
Shishir Monir said, if the referendum is canceled, all decisions after August 5, including the national election, will have to be canceled. This is not a court decision; that is, a decision will be made in parliament. If the court decides with a gun to its neck, it will be a political boomerang. He also said that the question of a verdict in favor of this writ has not yet arisen. Will they issue an order tomorrow, that is, will they issue a rule or not? Will they issue another interim ban or not?
Shishir Monir said, the parliament will sit in just 10 days. He alleged that the government has provoked the challenge of a referendum at this moment. On the other hand, party spokesperson Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair said that it would not be right to try to achieve the goal by placing the responsibility of the July Charter on the shoulders of the court. This would be tantamount to cheating the people of the country.
