US President Donald Trump said about the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, “I killed him before he killed me.” The US president said this in an interview with US media outlet ABC News.
In the interview, he also said, “They (Iran) tried twice. But I struck first.” Trump’s comments are believed to be referring to an Iran-related assassination attempt in 2024, where he was allegedly targeted.
Incidentally, Iran has suffered heavy losses in the US and Israeli attacks that began last Saturday (February 28). Iranian media confirmed that the country’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in the attack. On Sunday (March 1), the country’s semi-official news agencies Tasnim and Fars News Agencies confirmed the death.
The country’s government has declared seven days of public holidays and 40 days of state mourning for Khamenei’s death.
