Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has condemned Khamenei’s assassination as a ‘great crime’. This was stated in a statement issued by his office.
The statement said, ‘This great crime will never remain unanswered. Iran will respond to it and it will create a new chapter in the history of the Islamic world and the Shiites. The holy blood of this high-ranking leader will flow like a roaring fountain and will erase the tyranny and crimes of the American-Semitic people.’
It also said, ‘Once again, with all our strength and determination, in support of the Islamic nation and the free people of the world, we will make the perpetrators and instigators of this great crime repent.’ President Pezeshkian has declared a seven-day public holiday. In addition, a 40-day mourning period has been declared. Earlier, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in a joint attack. An atmosphere of mourning has been created across the country following his death.
