Election Commission (EC) Secretariat Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said that ballots have reached all 299 seats of the 13th National Parliament elections. He said this at the inauguration of the media center for foreign media personnel focusing on the elections at a hotel in the capital on Tuesday (February 10).
“Since assuming responsibility, the Election Commission has been working for a fair election. It has not been possible to publish a 100% accurate voter list. And the registration of new political parties was a challenge,” Akhtar Ahmed said. “All ballots have reached 299 seats. All preparations for voting have been completed. The notification to go to polling stations with mobile phones will be withdrawn today. The counting of postal ballots in the vote counting process is time-consuming, but there will be no unnecessary delay under any circumstances.”
He also said, “Journalists from 115 countries have expressed interest in collecting news from the elections. Of these, observers from 21 countries have come to observe.” It is worth noting that elections will be held in 299 out of 300 seats in the 13th National Parliament election next Thursday (February 12). The EC has postponed the election in Sherpur-3 (Srivardi-Jhenaigati) constituency due to the death of Jamaat-nominated candidate Nuruzzaman Badal.
