Fire in Jhum warehouse in Gazipur
A fire broke out in a jhum warehouse in the Noshar Market area under Konabari police station in Gazipur. On receiving the information, three units of the fire service reached the spot and brought the fire under control. The fire service said that the fire started around 12 midnight last Friday (February 6).
According to the fire service and local sources, a fire broke out in a jhum warehouse of about 7,000 square feet at night, burning jhum cloth, cartoons and various goods. On receiving the information, a total of 3 units, including 2 units of Konabari Modern Fire Station and 1 unit of Sarabo Modern Fire Station, quickly reached the spot and brought the fire under control after two hours of effort.
Mohammad Mamun, Deputy Assistant Director of Gazipur Fire Service, said, “Initially, it is believed that the fire started from an electrical short circuit. The estimated damage in the fire is about 7 million taka and the value of the recovered goods is about 5 crore taka. No casualties were reported in the incident, said a fire service official.
