RAB’s name will change this time
The interim government has decided to change the name of RAB. The new name has been given to ‘Special Intervention Force’ (SIF). Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury gave this information after the meeting of the Core Committee on Law and Order in the meeting room of the Home Ministry on Tuesday (February 3).
The Home Affairs Advisor said, ‘The name of RAB will be changed to Special Intervention Force (SIF). The Chief Advisor has approved the change of name of RAB. The uniform of RAB has also been changed. You were also shown it once. These uniforms have started being made. Maybe you will see the DG wearing them next week.’
He also said that according to the previous law, more new changes will be made to RAB by changing the work of RAB. The Home Affairs Advisor also said that the work of RAB has already changed in the last one and a half years. It is worth noting that in the initial stage of the formation of RAB, the name of this force was Rapid Action Team (RAT). However, later this force emerged as RAB. RAB was formed in 2004. This name is being changed after 22 years.
