The 10 richest candidates in the election
The 13th National Parliament election is going to be held on March 12. The Election Commission is working to ensure a voting-like environment during the campaign phase directly on the ground and to clearly highlight the individual identity and support of the candidates.
According to the Election Commission, a total of 1,994 candidates are contesting the 300-seat 13th National Parliament election. Of these, 256 are independent candidates, while the rest have participated in the election as nominations of various political parties.
An analysis by Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) has shown that the number of candidates owning assets worth more than 100 million taka is also significant. Considering the updated market value of movable and immovable assets, a total of 891 candidates in this election are millionaires.
According to the TIB report, the identities of the top 10 most powerful candidates in terms of assets among the candidates participating in the upcoming election are highlighted.

03. Fakhr Uddin Ahmed – Mymensingh-11, BNP (≈ ৳299 crore)
04. Zakaria Taher – Comilla-8, BNP (≈ ৳292 crore)
05. Salauddin Alamgir – Tangail-8, Independent (≈ ৳283 crore)
06. M. A. H. Selim – Independent (≈ ৳262 crore)
07. Md. Jalal Uddin – Chandpur-2, BNP (≈ ৳249 crore)
08. Golam Mohammad Siraj – Bogra-5, BNP (≈ ৳204 crore)
09. Md. Fazlul Azim – Noakhali-6, Independent (≈ ৳190 crore)
10. Md. Shafiqur Rahman – Shariatpur-2, BNP (≈ ৳185 crore)
