BNP office set on fire in Noakhali, NCP office vandalized in Natore
Violence has spread in various parts of the country ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections. There have been allegations of arson at the election office of a BNP candidate in Begumganj, Noakhali, vandalism at the NCP election office in Natore, and an attack on the convoy of a Jatiya Party candidate in Nilphamari. Tensions are rising in the political arena in these incidents.
An arson incident occurred at the election office of a BNP candidate in Bakipur village, ward number 9, Rajganj union, Begumganj upazila, Noakhali. In the incident that took place early on Monday (February 2), everything inside the office, including chairs, tables, and furniture, was burned. Three adjacent shops were also completely damaged in the fire. However, no casualties were reported.
The local BNP is claiming that the arson was planned and that Jamaat-e-Islami workers were involved in it. Begumganj Upazila BNP convener Babu Kamakshya Chandra Das said that this incident was done to scare the voters who were in favor of paddy sheesh. Preparations are underway to file a written complaint with the police station in this regard.
On the other hand, Begumganj Upazila Jamaat Ameer Abduz Jaher denied the allegations and said that this is the result of internal conflict in BNP. No one from Jamaat-Shibir is involved in this incident. Begumganj Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Shamsuzzaman said that although the incident of fire is true, the cause of it is not yet certain. Legal action will be taken after investigating the allegations.

NCP election office vandalized in Natore:
The NCP election office was vandalized in Mougram, Sukash Union, Singra Upazila, Natore. Two workers were injured in the incident around 9:30 pm last Sunday.
According to local sources, some people led by former BNP leader Abdul Quddus Akand and a UP member organized a banquet in the area and an argument broke out with NCP workers. At one stage, there were allegations of vandalism of the election office chairs and tearing of banners.
However, BNP leader Abdul Quddus Akand claimed that NCP workers vandalized their own office. Singra Police Station OC ASM Abdun Noor said that the police have brought the situation under control and if any complaint is received, action will be taken after investigating.
Allegation of attack on JPA candidate’s convoy in Nilphamari:
Jatiya Party candidate from Nilphamari-4 (Saidpur-Kishoreganj) constituency Md. Siddikul Alam has alleged an attack on his convoy. At a press conference in Saidpur yesterday, he said that supporters of the opposing BNP candidate attacked his convoy, vandalized it and beat him up.
Siddikul Alam claimed that the attack was carried out by a mob in an area of Kishoreganj upazila last Sunday night, and that the legal weapon of his gunman was called illegal. His party leaders and activists were injured in the attack. A case has been filed with the police station in this incident.
BNP candidate Abdul Gafur Sarkar denied the allegations and said, “This is completely false and propaganda.” In all the incidents, the police of the police station concerned said that necessary legal action will be taken after receiving the complaint and subject to investigation.
