11-year-old child raped, uncle-in-law arrested

Police have arrested an uncle-in-law on charges of raping an 11-year-old child in Sreepur, Gazipur. The rape took place at a house on Saturday afternoon (January 31). The owner of the house and local people arrested the two accused. On receiving the information, the police arrested the two accused from the house around 10 pm. The arrested are Md. Nazmul Haque (25), son of Md. Ujjwal of Bhatajor village in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh district, and Shakil (18), son of Sahab Uddin of Saitalia village in Telihati union of Sreepur upazila. The arrested are relatives of the uncle-in-law. The victim’s mother has filed a case with the Sreepur police station in this incident.
The victim’s mother said that they live in the house with her husband, wife and daughter. She works in a separate factory called local Vintex and her husband Design. The girl lives alone in the house. Accused Nazmul lives in the same house. Nazmul had tied the victim’s face and hands in an empty house a few days ago, forcibly raped her and took obscene photos on his mobile phone. He threatened to spread the photos on social media, Facebook. Since then, Nazmul had been raping the child in the absence of the victim’s parents. Finally, at around 1 pm yesterday, Nazmul and Shakil went to the empty house and raped the child. The owner of the house was able to understand the matter and arrested the two rapists who were in the house.
He said that he came to know about the incident during his lunch break yesterday. A local group tried to cover up the incident. Fearing that he would be deprived of justice, he called the national emergency service number 999 at around 8 pm and sought police assistance. The police arrested the accused from the spot at around 10 pm.
The victim’s father complained in a tearful voice, saying, “My only daughter was raped by perverts.” I demand exemplary punishment for this.’ Sreepur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Nasir Ahmed said, “On receiving information, the victim was rescued from the scene and the accused were arrested that night. The victim’s mother has filed a case in this incident. The accused will be handed over to the court today.”
