India: Melting scrap prices increase by INR 500/t d-o-d in Alang
Ship-breaking melting scrap prices in Gujarat’s Alang increased by INR 500/t d-o-d on 15 Jan’26, as per BigMint’s assessment. HMS (80:20) prices were assessed at INR 31,800/t ($352/t) exy. The regional market remained closed yesterday due to the Uttrayan (Makar Sankranti) festival, while other key steel markets recorded active trading. The improvement in overall market sentiment encouraged scrap suppliers to revise their offers upward.
