Tarique Rahman to visit Shahjalal’s shrine before election campaign
BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman will visit Sylhet on January 22. There, he will start the campaign for the 13th National Assembly election by visiting the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA). BNP Media Cell Convener Moudud Hossain Alamgir Pavel confirmed this information to BSS on Saturday (January 10).
Tarique Rahman exchanged greetings with media editors at a hotel in Dhaka yesterday regarding the start of the election campaign. Speaking at the event, he said, “Elections are coming. I am a member of a political party. Naturally, we will go before the people with all our plans from the 22nd (January 22nd).”
However, the BNP Chairman did not give any details about the election campaign. According to the schedule, the symbol for the National Assembly election will be allotted on January 21st. After that, the formal campaign will start from January 22nd. Traditionally, BNP starts its election campaign with a visit to the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA). This time too is no exception.
According to the tour schedule, Tarique Rahman will start his campaign with a visit to the shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal and Shahparan (RA) in Sylhet. Later, while returning to Dhaka by road from Sylhet, he will participate in road meetings and public meetings at various places. In continuation of this, after attending a public meeting in Moulvibazar, he will address an election road meeting in Srimangal.
Earlier, on Friday (January 9) night, it was announced after an emergency meeting of the party’s standing committee that Tarique Rahman’s tour of the northern region has been postponed. Tarique Rahman also took charge of the party’s chairman on the same day. After this meeting of the party’s standing committee, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that Tarique Rahman’s tour of North Bengal has been postponed for the time being. The new schedule of the tour will be announced later.
