India: NMDC receives approvals for iron ore capacity expansion at Bailadila mines

NMDC has secured environmental approvals to expand iron ore output at its Bailadila operations in Chhattisgarh, covering capacity increases at Deposit-5 and Deposit-14 and a recommended clearance for Deposit-11. Iron ore capacities were revised to 12 mnt/year, 8.5 mnt/year, and 14.5 mnt/year against previous clearances of 10 mnt/year, 5.5 mnt/year, and 11.3 mnt/year, involving diversion of around 875 hectares of forest land and an increase in overburden removal to 15.39 mnt/year.
