Results of 8 JOCSU centres announced, fierce fight for VP post

The Election Commission has announced the results of 8 centres in the Jagannath University Central Students’ Union (JOCSU) elections so far. There is already information about a fierce fight for the VP post. According to the information received till 10:30 am today, Wednesday (January 7), VP candidate Riazul Islam is leading in the results of 8 centres with 810 votes. His nearest rival, Chhatra Dal-backed VP candidate AKM Rakib, is leading with 804 votes.
In addition, for the GS post, Abdul Alim Arif of the Shibir panel got 825 votes and Khadijatul Kobra of the Chhatra Dal panel got 422 votes. Moreover, for the AGS post, Masud Rana of the Shibir panel got 799 votes and Atiqur Rahman Tanzil of the Chhatra Dal panel got 690 votes.
Meanwhile, although the Shibir-backed panel is ahead in the top three and most of the editorial posts, Chhatra Dal is still ahead in the two posts of Library and Culture Editor. In addition, some candidates of the Chhatra Dal-backed panel among the executive members are in good standing. Incidentally, the counting of votes for the JOCSU elections was postponed for a long time due to technical glitches. After that, the counting started in both manual and machine methods, but the election officials could not complete the counting of votes. Earlier, the counting of votes started again after 5 hours at 1:45 am on Tuesday (January 6), but by 10:30 am today, Wednesday (January 7), the counting of votes in only 8 centers was completed. The counting of votes in 31 centers is still pending. The results of the 8 centers announced are- Anthropology, Public Administration, Geography, Pharmacy, CSE, Microbiology, Finance and Genetic Engineering.
