Baltic dry index falls 4.5% amid year-end slowdown
The Baltic dry bulk index fell by 4.5% (90 points) d-o-d to 1,889 on 23 Dec, as Capesize rates slid on slower iron ore fixing and cautious chartering during year-end holidays, while Panamax and Supramax segments weakened on softer coal and grain demand, keeping overall market sentiment bearish.
