India: Melting scrap prices in Alang rise 1%
Ship-breaking melting scrap prices in Gujarat’s Alang rose by 1% (INR 300/t) d-o-d on 4 Dec, as per BigMint’s assessment. HMS (80:20) prices were assessed at INR 31,500/t ($349/t) exy. The regional market witnessed active trading, supported by a INR 200-300/t rise in semi-finished and finished steel prices. Additionally, buying inquiries for scrap prompted suppliers to raise their offers on Thursday.
