Maulana Mamunul Haque, Amir of Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis, has commented that when believers come to power, an Islamic state is established. He said, when believers come to power, prayers are established, zakat is implemented—Allah has given instructions to implement these through the Quran. And those who are interested in forming a secular state, secularism works among them, which means running religion and state separately. He said these things at the Siratunnabi (PBUH) Mahfil organized by the District Qaumi Organization at the Hassan Ali High School ground in Chandpur city on Sunday (November 30) night.
Mamunul Haque said, Hindus, Buddhists, Christians and people of other religions can accept secularism. But if a Muslim holds faith and Islam in his heart, then it is not possible for him to form a government based on secularism. He claimed that no other religion gives instructions on how to run a state in the way Islam talks about state system. Therefore, no Muslim can run a secular state; he has to run the state according to the Quran and Sunnah – it is impossible for him to make an exception in this case too.
Addressing the BNP, he said, if you want to run the state on secular ideals, then no Islamic party will be with you. Those who want to form a secular state without understanding are fools, and those who want to create it with understanding are a group of infidels and infidels. They are fools and hypocrites. He also said that martyred President Ziaur Rahman had added ‘Bismillah’ to the Constitution of Bangladesh, but his followers now want to run the country by separating religion and state – which will never be allowed to happen.
On the relationship between the government and India, he said that a foreign minister of the falling Awami League government had referred to India as the closest neighbor, close friend and friendly country. He commented, I saw that this happened after August 5. The wife has gone to her husband. That is why our former Prime Minister (Sheikh Hasina) is safe with him. It is shameful.
He alleged that the leaders have ‘sold their heads to them’ while establishing a secular state, which will not be allowed to happen to anyone else. Addressing the countrymen, he said that if an Islamic state is established in Bangladesh, then Muslim rule will return to the entire South Asia, including India, even Indian Muslims, and the rule of the Quran will be effective.
The rally was attended by Awlad-e-Rasul Syed Asjad Madani (Deoband, India), the younger son of Syed Hossain Ahmed Madani (RA), one of the heroes of the British Hatao movement, Muhtamim Maulana Khwaja Ahmed Ullah of Jafrabad Qasemul Uloom Madrasa, Mufti Sirajul Islam, Imam Maulana Kabir Ahmed of Hajiganj Baro Mosque and President of Chandpur District Qaumi Organization Mufti Abu Sayeed, among others.
