Hall-Mark Group MD Tanvir passes away
Tanvir Mahmud (55), the managing director (MD) of Hall-Mark Group, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in a Sonali Bank loan fraud case, has died. He died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 10:30 pm on Saturday (November 29).
Assistant Inspector General of Prisons (Development) of the Prisons Department Md. Jannat-ul Farhad said that Tanvir Mahmud suddenly fell ill at around 1:30 pm yesterday. Then he was taken from Dhaka Central Jail to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Later, on the advice of a doctor, he was admitted to the hospital at around 4 pm. According to sources at Dhaka Central Jail, Tanvir Mahmud had been suffering from kidney problems, diabetes, high blood pressure and other complex physical problems for a long time.
Confirming the death, Inspector-in-charge of DMCH Hospital Police Outpost Md. Faruk said that Tanvir Mahmud was undergoing treatment in ward number 602 of the hospital. Incidentally, Tanvir Mahmud was serving a long prison sentence in the Hallmark scam and Sonali Bank loan fraud cases. He was also imprisoned in a case at the capital’s Ramna Police Station.
