Strong earthquake in Indonesia

A strong earthquake has struck Indonesia’s East Papua province. A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck on Thursday (October 16). There were no immediate reports of tsunami warnings or damage.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) said the quake, which struck at 2:48 pm local time, was centered about 200 kilometers (125 miles) from Jaipur and at a depth of 35 kilometers.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii said there was no threat of a tsunami from the quake.
The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recorded a magnitude 6.4 earthquake at a depth of 16 kilometers.
A large archipelago located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, Indonesia is often hit by earthquakes.
