One Rohingya injured in mine explosion at border

A Rohingya youth named Rocky Alam (26) was injured in a landmine explosion inside Myanmar near the Tumbru border in Ghumdhum union of Naikshongchhari in Bandarban. The explosion occurred at around 12:30 pm on Saturday (August 24) in the Medai area of ​​Arakan State, Myanmar. Locals said that Rocky Alam, who was seriously injured in the explosion, was rescued by locals and admitted to a private hospital in Kutupalong area of ​​Ukhia, Bangladesh, across the border. His physical condition is currently reported to be critical. Shafiqul Islam, a local resident of the area, said, “I saw an injured Rohingya youth being taken to the hospital in a CNG-powered autorickshaw.” The matter was confirmed by Naikshongchhari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Masrurul Haque. He said, “The Rohingya youth was injured in a landmine explosion inside Myanmar. Later, when he crossed the border into Bangladesh, he was given the opportunity to receive medical care from a humanitarian perspective. It is worth noting that the explosion of mines planted by the Arakan Army in the border area often causes casualties. This is causing panic among the locals.
