Human chain demanding arrest of Ayan Sharma and cancellation of registration of his newspaper

A protest has been organized under the banner of Bir Chattala residents and the general traditional society demanding the arrest of Ayan Sharma and the cancellation of the registration of his newspapers “Dainik Chittagong Pratidin” and “Alokito Chittagong”.

This human chain was formed in front of the Chittagong District Commissioner’s office on Sunday, August 10. The speakers in the human chain complained and said, “We inform you with deep concern that the much-criticized so-called media “Dainik Chittagong Pratidin” and “Alokito Chittagong” newspapers have not been following the minimum principles of journalism for a long time. In addition to publishing false, purposeful and misleading news in disregard of the media law, they are involved in extortion and misreporting.

The speakers claimed that Ayan Sharma, the publisher and advisory editor of this newspaper, has been in the news in various forms at different times. He uses his photos with political party leaders and high-ranking government officials to spread his influence in society. Although there have been many complaints against him, he has been acquitted by some invisible hand. The speakers said that Ayan Sharma is against July and that he is working for a corrupt autocratic clique and is definitely against the constitution by opposing the students and the people in the democratic uprising of July 24. However, it is very disappointing and dangerous for the nation that he has not been brought under the law even so far.

The speakers also said that Ayan Sharma, the accused in the murder case of lawyer Alif in the Chittagong court premises, is the accused in the murder case of lawyer Alif in the Chittagong court premises and more than fifty criminal cases are pending against him, including charges of extortion, fraud and anti-state activities. They said that he is creating confusion and unrest across the country by spreading unsubstantiated propaganda against the leaders and workers of a political party. In addition, there are allegations of taking various businessmen hostage and extorting money through intimidation and blatant threats.

The speakers from the human chain also alleged that the Sri Sri Janmashtami Udjawan Parishad Central Committee was trying to destroy communal harmony by inciting the common people to rehabilitate the fallen autocratic Awami League by illegally forcibly forming a committee. They also said that they were making strong efforts to create communal riots and riots. After the human chain, they submitted a memorandum to the Chittagong District Commissioner to take immediate action against Ayan Sharma.
