Milestone tragedy: Allegations of concealing information about casualties in the accident are baseless
The government has rejected as propaganda the allegations of concealing information from some quarters surrounding the tragic accident at Milestone School and College in Uttara, the capital. The government, the army and the concerned authorities are working together to provide accurate information about the casualties. Therefore, it has been claimed that the issue of concealing information is not correct. This claim was made in a statement sent by the Press Wing of the Chief Advisor on Tuesday (July 22) morning. The statement stated that the government is providing all kinds of assistance to each of the deceased and injured in the tragic accident at Milestone School and College in the capital. The names and identities of each of the deceased are being verified and listed. The bodies that cannot be identified are being identified through DNA tests. In addition, they also said that the highest measures have been taken for the proper treatment of the injured in the incident in several hospitals in Dhaka. The statement further said, “We are observing with concern that information about casualties is being concealed from various quarters and propaganda is being spread claiming that it is not true. We would like to state very firmly that this claim is not true. The Bangladesh government, army administration, school authorities and hospital authorities are working together to publish a complete and accurate list of the injured and dead in this tragic incident. We urge everyone, if anyone you know is missing in this accident, please contact the school authorities as soon as possible, a control room is being set up there. In addition, whether anyone is still missing is being verified from the school registry and other documents. Meanwhile, 25 of the 27 people killed so far in the crash of an Air Force training fighter jet at Milestone School and College in Uttara in the capital this morning are children, said Dr. Md. Sayedur Rahman, Special Assistant Professor for Health to the Chief Advisor.
